Championship Predictions - Boro Or Luton Catch Sheff Utd?

Sheffield United are still in the promotion race despite Burnley's runaway lead, sitting second in the Championship. To earn promotion to Premier League status, Paul Heckingbottom's side must maintain their good form.

Middlesbrough are also in the race for promotion and have been in impressive form under Michael Carrick at the Riverside Stadium. Although they still have two games in hand over Luton Town and Burnley, results this weekend could see their lead over those teams in second place shrink.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough is a town and port located on the River Tees in North East England, near the North York Moors National Park. It serves as the main administrative centre for a devolved area of local government and houses both Teesside Museum and Teesside Art Gallery.

With a population of 398,000, it is the most populous town in the county and fifth largest overall in North East England. As an important business hub, its industrial/petrochemical, engineering/technology and high street commerce industries are well represented.

The climate in Wales is typical of the United Kingdom, protected by mountains and coastal regions from south-westerly winds. It boasts numerous museums, parks, art galleries, as well as a university campus.

Sheffield United have the advantage in the promotion race with one game remaining and can move nine points clear of Boro with a win against Wigan at 3pm on Friday. Luton also appear likely to make the playoffs after enjoying an impressive away unbeaten streak of seven games dating back to February.

Luton

Luton Town are in great position for a play-off spot after their recent string of impressive results. After losing only one game since February 1st, they are priced at 11/8 to go up and have an excellent record in the process.

They sit in sixth place and appear to be well on their way to a top six finish. Middlesbrough are just behind them in third, but with Burnley virtually out of the title race it appears that Sheff Utd may have to battle with Luton for supremacy at the top.

Sheffield United have extended their lead in the Championship promotion race to six points with one game left, but they must find something extra to pass Boro and secure a place in next season's Premier League.

Burnley

Burnley have been an impressive team this season and will bring their form to Bramall Lane on Saturday. With only one loss this year, they sit atop of the table 13 points ahead of their nearest challengers and looking to extend that lead in their last match against Sheffield United.

Luton Town are also in the promotion race and Paul Heckingbottom believes they deserve more respect than what is given them. Since Boxing Day, Luton have enjoyed an impressive run of results which puts them ahead of sixth-placed Norwich City and three points ahead of Millwall.

With six games left to go, they have an excellent chance of staying in the Championship and returning to Premier League play. Their average league position is higher than any of their opponents' and with a relegation battle at the bottom of the table and three potential relegation candidates at the top, now could be an ideal time for them to put their foot down and get back in promotion contention.

Sheffield United

With eight games remaining in the Championship, Sheffield United are six points ahead of their closest rivals and look set to secure promotion to the Premier League. Luton Town have now drawn level on points with Middlesbrough.

Paul Heckingbottom was buoyed by Carlton Morris' 15th goal of the season as Luton claimed an important win against struggling Sheffield United and moved into second place. When discussing who should make up the top two in the race for second spot, Luton should always be taken into account.

We believe it would be a mistake not to include the Hatters in any Championship predictions as they remain an excellent chance for promotion and have been on fire since February 1. They have a great chance at making it into the play-offs, but they must win games and not falter!
