Beyond the Cubicle: Rediscovering Life Beyond Work

My personal experience is a living example of the idea that everyone can rise "from the bottom 1% to the top 1% for the whole 100%," having started from humble origins in India and becoming a global citizen domiciled in the UK. In a strict, non-English-speaking household, I was born in Mumbai, India, into a scheduled class.

Obtaining a good education will always be a significant factor in uplifting my family and me. Having achieved an All India rank, I became a qualified chartered accountant and began my banking job. Traditional prosperity and happiness came to me because I resolved to build a better future for my family and myself.

What if everyone on the planet is my family? This is a more significant question I then posed to myself. If we were all successful in the future, what would I do? I established an entrepreneurial endeavour called Maanch in 2018 as my response to this.

Maanch brings together my knowledge, enthusiasm, and the world's needs. My confidence in uniting people for collective action and my banking, sustainability, and fintech skills led me to establish Maanch. This award-winning technology platform makes impact quantifiable, concrete, and accountable.

As a certified B company, we collaborate with corporations, philanthropists, and investors to offer innovative solutions that maximize return on investment in pursuing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through data, information, dashboards, and networks, we provide systems to meet our clients' impact and ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) requirements.

Determining Your Goals

I had to seek outside the confines of my family, organization, and self to discover my mission. This is when workaholism comes. My mission in life was only revealed to me when I saw past the societal trance we live in and began to use my profession as a vehicle for self-expression. To fulfil my passion and objective of promoting global well-being and prosperity, I'm dedicated to fusing my finance career with my technology background.

The impact is complicated, as we all know. Despite impact investments receiving over $1 trillion in funding, advanced methods or tools still need to be developed to track and evaluate their overall impact. It dawned on me that the absence of procedures for the effective distribution of resources is the underlying cause of the "impact gap," not a shortage of funds or well-meaning intentions. Technology was the solution, I knew.

Our Framework For The 5ps

Understanding the motive behind my actions is a daily source of intrinsic drive. To support others in leading purposeful lives, I will provide my 5P framework, enabling you to achieve your goals and cultivate a positive atmosphere.

Establishing Presence

Setting priorities is the first step in discovering your purpose, understanding both your internal and external environment, and understanding both the environment and your actions and how they impact it. To purposefully align crucial activities and milestones, I turn to simple techniques like meditation and rhythmic breathing that help me bring my mind back to the present.

Aim

I am always making sure that what I'm doing is in line with my goal. I can concentrate on the few essential things by dropping or rearranging actions that don't advance my final destination.

In addition, I strive to create a purposeful work environment where my team members feel free to bring their best selves to the table and be vulnerable enough to share their lowest moments and ask for help. We regularly invite other coaches and experts to lead guest sessions to push the team members outside their comfort zones and broaden their perspectives.

Procedure

A systematic approach to agility is crucial. Achieving a discipline that suits you and embracing adaptability is critical to the dynamic environment we live in today. Log your personal and professional activities and learn something new daily.

People

Fulfilling and energizing is having a healthy network of meaningful connections you can contribute to and lean into. The happiness, wisdom, and difficulties of others can provide tremendous benefits.

Be a member of communities and groups that question the status quo because you believe in the power of reaching out, respect diversity, and embrace new ideas.

Otto Scharmer and Katrin Kaufer's book Leading From the Emerging Future: From Ego-System to Eco-System Economies introduced the Iceberg Model, which fundamentally altered my perspective. With its accurate illustration of the structural disconnects in the world, it provides an opportunity for each of us to close the gap between our mission and the world's needs.

We must make sure that we leave our home in a better state than when we found it because we are custodians of the planet's resources and assets. Making daily decisions, such as which things to purchase or which companies to invest in, has trade-offs that must be understood. This can be an excellent place to start. A "planet price" applies to everything.
